Jamaica suspect hunt stepped up

Ms Scott-Jones was on an extended holiday
Police in Jamaica investigating the murder of a British woman are stepping up the hunt for a 30-year-old man.
Detectives want to speak to Omar Reid in connection with the death of Barbara Scott-Jones, 61, whose body was found in a cess pit on Friday.

Mr Reid, who worked as caretaker for Ms Scott-Jones, has not been seen since she disappeared on 14 March.

Ms Scott-Jones, from Leeds, was found with head injuries near her holiday home in the northwest of the island.

Superintendent Steve McGregor said: "We're still appealing to Mr Reid to come in because we need to speak to him.

"Anybody who knows of the whereabouts of Mr Reid to come and talk to the police and see how best we can bring closure to this situation."

Skull injury

Ms Scott-Jones, who was on an extended holiday, was described by her family as a "wonderful, selfless woman".

She was reported missing by her family in the UK who became concerned after she failed to return calls.

The local police, who had set up a task force to oversee the search, found Ms Scott-Jones' body - clad only in her underwear - in a cess pit.

She had several wounds to her head, broken teeth and nose, and a fractured skull.

The skull injury was probably the cause of death, police said.

Police have said they could not confirm reports that Mr Reid and Ms Scott-Jones were in a relationship.

But her family said he had been helping her renovate her property and there was no evidence their relationship was "intimate".
